glass microfiber
LFI produces glass microfiber using two distinct manufacturing processes: rotary and flame attenuation. These processes allow us to offer a wide range of fiber diameters at the best possible value for the user.
LFI employs the rotary attenuation process in Lauscha, Germany, and the flame attenuation process in both Lauscha and Summerville, SC. Both facilities use state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. Process automation and quality assurance control according to
ISO 9001:2000 standards ensure the product quality required by the customer.
LFI glass microfiber is not surface-treated and is available in average fiber diameters (AFD) ranging from 0.33 to 5.0 microns. Our fiber is distinguished by its consistent glass chemistry, uniform fiber diameter, low shot and purity.

glass microfiber for filtration application
Consistent fiber dimension and glass purity are absolute prerequisites for critical filtration applications. This is why LFI glass microfiber is specified by major manufacturers of filtration media for ULPA cleanroom filters, HEPA, ASHRAE and HVAC indoor air filters, personal safety respirators, automotive engine filters, water purification, laboratory filtration paper, residential air filters and more. Additionally, LFI produces borosilicate glass and alkali silicate (low boron) glass microfiber for the full range of filtration applications.
glass microfiber for separation application
High tensile strength, superior glass homogeneity, low metal content, high acid resistance and low shot content are among the top reasons for using LFI glass microfiber in battery separator media for recombinant battery technology.
Computerized process controls ensure fiber consistency that ultimately yields highly uniform, cost efficient separation media.
